Peace of Mind as a Service

Someone knows where you are.

Start a trip, and the people you choose can see your live location until you arrive. If something feels wrong, press SOS or just say “Help me”. We send them your live location and the number of the nearest police station. If you want, we also alert verified volunteers near you. Only your PIN can stop an alert.

  • Hands-free: just say “Help me” or “Madad karo” to start an alertTry it
  • Your contacts don’t need the app or an account
  • We ask each person you add first
  • Your trip locations are deleted after 30 days

Meet Sakhi in 90 seconds

Sakhi means friend.

The friend who knows where you are, and tells your people the moment you ask for help.

The short version. To see every step, watch the 5-minute demo.

Hands-free

Can’t reach your phone? Just say “Help me.”

While your trip is on, Sakhi listens for a call for help. When it hears one, it starts an alert for you. You don’t have to touch your phone. Sakhi understands English and Hindi.

Say things like this in English:

  • “Help me, please”
  • “Someone is following me”
  • “I’m not safe”
  • “Get away from me”
  • “I’m in danger”

Or in Hindi:

  • “Madad karo”
  • “Koi mera peechha kar raha hai”
  • “Main surakshit nahi hoon”
  • “Mujhse door raho”
  • “Main khatre mein hoon”
  1. You say it

Say it out loud, in English or Hindi. Your own words are fine. Sakhi listens for phrases like the ones above.

  2. Sakhi hears it

An alert starts on its own. If it was a mistake, you have 20 seconds to cancel it.

  3. Your people are told

Your contacts get your live location and the phone number of the nearest police station.

Test it now. No sign-up.

For up to 60 seconds your microphone audio is sent live to Sakhi's detection server, where an automated detector listens for calls for help. It is processed live and not kept by Sakhi. Nothing is sent to anyone.

More about this test

Sakhi understands English and Hindi. You’ll see whether Sakhi would have raised an alert, then say whether it should have. Results stay in this browser for 12 months, and the share link is the copy you can take with you. See what is stored.

This works during a trip, when the microphone is allowed and the app is open. You can always press the SOS button too.

How it works

  1. Sign in with your phone

We send you a code on WhatsApp. You don’t need a password or an email.

  2. Add people you trust

We send each person a message first and ask if they agree. If someone says no, we never message them again, not even for an SOS.

  3. Set your safety PIN

Pick 4 digits, or a phrase if you like. Only your PIN can end a trip or stop an alert. So if someone takes your phone, they can’t stop it.

  4. Start a trip

Tell us where you are going. Your contacts get a link that shows where you are. The link stops working when you arrive.

  5. Press SOS, or say “Help me”

Your contacts get your live location and the phone number of the nearest police station. Can’t reach your phone? Just say “Help me” or “Madad karo”. Pressed SOS by mistake? You have 5 seconds to cancel. If Sakhi heard you by mistake, you have 20 seconds.

A 5-minute video. See each step in the app.

Verified people near you, when you ask for them.

During an SOS, you can also alert verified volunteers (protectors) within 2000 km* of you. Your contacts can alert them for you too. You can turn that off.

Want to help?

Who they are
Volunteers. We have checked their ID.
When they’re alerted
Only during an SOS, by you or by one of your contacts.
What they see
Your live location, your trip and your vehicle.
What they never see
Your audio, your number or your contacts.
For how long
Their link stops working when your alert ends.

Sakhi does not call for help. It tells the people who will.

Before you rely on Sakhi, here is what it cannot do.

  • It does not call 112 or the police for you. An SOS goes to your contacts, with the nearest police station’s number so any of you can call.
  • Protectors are volunteers, not an emergency service.
  • If your phone loses signal or the battery dies, Sakhi does not raise an alert by itself. Your contacts see the last place we got from your phone, and what time that was.

What happens to your data

One page lists everything Sakhi keeps (locations, recordings and links) and when each one is deleted.

What Sakhi records

Set it up before you need it.

Create an account and add the people you trust. We ask each of them first, so do this before your trip, not during it.
